Lawrence G. Taylor – Author of the Month Winner for October 2019
Lawrence was born in Guyana and later immigrated to England where he worked and studied in London, before taking up residence in Sweden, in autumn 1969.
In the 70s, he tried his hand at writing, mostly short stories, a four-act closet drama, a novella, and an unfinished novel. He then spent two years nurturing the ambition to become an author of some repute, but the going was tough and created a feeling of insecurity for the future. In time, he shelved the idea and began working as a hospital porter and later earned his BA (Eng. & Edu.). After a summer job at a psychiatric hospital, he decided to do a 4-term course for mental-health carers. Following that, he completed the first of two stages of psychotherapy education and several short courses in cognitive therapy. Following retirement, he did mental health counseling work for several years.
In February 2016, Lawrence’s debut novel, “Strangers In Another Country,” a collection of two short stories and two novellas, was released on Amazon. Following his debut, Lawrence released several other works including two novellas, a novel, and a four-act closet drama—also available on Amazon.
