Dean’s wife is dead. Her last words: When the ships come…wear the necklace.
The ships came at dawn. Cities all around the world reported strange alien vessels descending. Some saw them as the heralds of a new age; others fired everything they had at them. All were taken as the beams lashed down and drew them into the sky. Dean was left behind, seemingly the last man on Earth.
A trail of clues left by his dead wife guide Dean on a perilous journey across America and beyond, to learn the truth behind the mysterious ships and save humanity from its doom. But not everything is as it seems.
The Event is the epic first novel by Nathan Hystad, creator of the bestselling Explorations anthology series.
This was a great book almost too exciting: I had to put it down for a minute and slow my heart rate down. The characters were real and believable. The plot kept getting better and had plenty of twists. I had a few questions but nothing interfered with my enjoyment. Highly recommend and looking forward to second in the series. Enjoy! – Jenness S. Akeson
Great read! Once I started reading it I had a difficult time putting it down, not a good thing when it is your anniversary weekend. Anyway, had everything I look for in a book, fast paced, did not go overboard in building characters (Seems to me that a lot of books “build characters” just to add fluff and page count). Nothing bad to say, only a couple of calling him a her and vice verse and I don’t remember any contradictions in the story line. To the person that stated they “assumed Mary was a pilot” no, the story line pretty much spelled it out. – Jimmy Staggs
I was really impressed, glued to the story. It started like Independence Day, but quickly went it’s own way. Fast paced with well developed characters and believable action. I couldn’t stop until it was over! Highly recommended. – Richard
